Joan Darby Norris lived in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas from 1977 to 1992 and currently lives in San Cristobal, New Mexico. She often travels between the two San Cristobals. Norris has worked with Naomi Shihab Nye on translations for the book The Tree Is Older Than You Are (Simon and Schuster, 1995) and she has written a book for young people titled New England for the American Food Library's series on regional cooking. Presently she is studying and working to become a licensed midwife at the Northern New Mexico Midwifery Center in Taos, New Mexico. 

Joan Darby Norris vivió en San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas desde 1977 a 1992 y actualmente vive en San Cristóbal, Nuevo México. No obstante, viaja con frecuencia entre las dos San Cristóbal. Norris ha trabajado con Naomi Shihab Nye en traducciones para el libro The Tree Is Older Than You Are (Simon y Schuster, 1995) y ha escrito un libro para jóvenes titulado New England, una obra para la serie de cocina regional de la American Food Library. Actualmente estudia y trabaja para ser partera, con licencia en el Northern New Mexico Midwifery Center en Taos, Nuevo México.
